1 dead after AFD pulls body from water in downtown Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A woman's body was pulled from Lady Bird Lake Thursday morning after first responders arrived to a water rescue call in downtown Austin.
According to first responders, the call came in at approximately 8:20 a.m. for a welfare check after a body was seen facedown in the water nea
r the 90 block of Congress Avenue.

The Austin Fire Department said firefighters rescued one individual from the water, and one on-scene death pronouncement was obtained at 9:08 a.m.
According to the Austin Police Department, this was being treated as a death investigation with no foul play suspected at this time.
APD said the trail was blocked off from Brazos to just west of the Congress Bridge while officers investigate. ...read more read less
