Chari Nordgaard Knueppel's personal March Madness: 'Just keep winning...the boys keep doing it'
Mar 31, 2025
(WFRV) — March was literally madness for Chari Nordgaard Knueppel. The UW-Green Bay women's basketball team's all-time leading scorer is now a mother of five sons, including Duke freshman phenom Kon II Knueppel.
Despite living in Wisconsin, Nordgaard Knueppel watched every Blue Devils game in
person this season, and still found herself in the crowd for her middle sons Kager and Kinston's Wisconsin Lutheran high school varsity games.

"A lot of times we're leaving for the airport at 3:50 in the morning to make sure I was home in time for the Friday night game then there in time at Duke for the Saturday afternoon game," Nordgaard Knueppel said of her strategic flight schedule.
Chari Nordgaard Knueppel flew from her home in Wisconsin to every Duke men's basketball game this season to watch her eldest son Kon II compete.
On March 21, the Wisconsin Lutheran boys basketball team competed in the WIAA Division I state semifinal game, on the same day the one-seeded Duke Blue Devils played in the NCAA Tournament's round of 64. The Knueppel parents were in Raleigh to watch Kon II, but all huddled around a phone to stream Kager and Kinston's one-point win later that night.
In fact, the Duke men's basketball team shared support of their freshman teammate Kon II and his family. While the Knueppel's were cheering in their hotel room after Kager's game-sealing block in the semifinal game, the Blue Devils were also watching in their respective hotel room.
After beating Mount St. Mary's 93-49 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, Duke freshman Kon II Knueppel joined his family to stream his younger brother's Wisconsin state semifinal game.
Kager, Kinston and Vikings went on to win the Division I state championship, younger sons Kash and Kid won the Lutheran Nationals, and Kon II ultimately led the Blue Devils with 21 points in the Elite 8, punching Duke's ticket to the Final Four.
"Our motto has been this March 'just keep winning.' And the boys keep doing it."
