Firefighter dodges vehicle while fighting fire on Hwy 99

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- As firefighters were battling a fully engulfed trailer fire, a firefighter had to dodge an oncoming vehicle on Highway 99 early Sunday morning.
According to officials with the Kern County Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to a semi-truck fire on Highway 9
9 near David Road, around 12:09 a.m.
At the scene, a firefighter noticed a vehicle hurtling toward him while he was standing by a fire engine.
The firefighter quickly threw himself against a fire engine, and managed to move the majority of his body out of the way. The firefighter suffered non life-threatening injuries, according to fire officials.

Fire officials told 17 News the firefighter was taken to the hospital and is scheduled to return to full duty when he fully recovers.
Witnesses told the highway patrol the suspect vehicle was possibly a white Chevrolet sedan and the model year is unknown. ...read more read less
