Man confesses to shooting, killing unarmed 15yearold in North Carolina: Court docs

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A man reportedly confessed to killing a 15-year-old in Uptown Charlotte on Wednesday, according to court documents.
Charlotte Mecklenburg Police officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call in the 400 block of W. 8th Street shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Jan 23.
Once on the scene, officers located Matthias Crockett, 15, with multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
During an interview with detectives, Keshawn Boyd, 27, confessed to using his 9mm pistol to shoot the teenager, according to court documents. The teen was not armed.
Boyd is charged with First Degree Murder and is being held without bond at the Mecklenburg County Detention Center. On Thursday, Boyd had his first court appearance.
This is the second night in a row with a homicide in Charlotte and this shooting happened just hours before another person was murdered on Catalina Avenue around 10 p.m. Wednesday.
