VERMILLION, S.D. (KELO) -- The South Dakota State women's basketball team remained perfect in Summit League play with a 77-59 win over South Dakota inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center Saturday afternoon. The Jackrabbits were led by four players in double figures. Brooklyn Meyer and Haleigh Timmer netted 15 points apiece, and Mesa Byom contributed 13 and seven rebounds. Katie Vasecka added 12 off the bench. Grace Larkins led the Coyotes with a game-high 27 points on 11-of-18 shooting, eight assists and seven rebounds. Carley Duffney was also in double figures for USD with 17. The Jacks shot 48.4% for the game, including a blistering 66.7% (10-for-15) in the third quarter. State won the rebounding battle 37-26 and dominated the paint, outscoring USD 42-26. South Dakota State scored nine of the first 11 points to surge in front early. After the Coyotes closed the gap to three, the Jacks scored 16 straight and led 27-10 after one quarter. South Dakota responded in the second and trimmed the deficit to seven three minutes in thanks to a 9-0 spurt. SDSU led 44-33 at the half. The Jackrabbits used a 17-2 run to start the third quarter to expand the lead to 61-35. It was a 21-point game entering the fourth. SDSU hosts NDSU on Wednesday. USD visits Kansas City Thursday.
