IMPD: Woman in wheelchair hit by driver on Indy's far east side

INDIANAPOLIS — A woman is in critical condition at an Indianapolis hospital after being struck by a driver while riding in her wheelchair on the city's far east side, police confirm.
Indianapolis police and EMS crews were called around 6:05 p.m. Friday to the intersection of E. 21st Street and N. German Church Road for a person struck.
Upon arrival at the intersection on the city's far east side, IMPD found an adult female victim who was suffering from serious bodily injuries. Police said a driver had hit the woman - who was in a wheelchair - with their car.
The victim was then taken to an Indy-area hospital in critical condition, IMPD said. Police confirmed that the driver stayed on scene and is cooperating with their investigation.
No other information was immediately confirmed by police.
