Wet Start to 2025
Dec 31, 2024
Happy New Year Sothern New England! 2025 starts off with rain early in the morning with clouds hanging around all day. The afternoon and evening have a chance of showers as a cold front comes through. Some of these showers may even be a mix of rain and snow as temperatures drop. No accumulations are expected should we indeed see this mixture. Wednesday will be the last of the unseasonably warm days with highs near 50. Wednesday night we clear, winds ramp up, and temperatures drop into the lower-30s. There is a WIND ADVISORY issued for Wednesday night starting at 7pm through 10 pm Thursday. During the advisory time, we could see northwesterly winds gusting to 50 mph. As a result, we could see downed tree limbs, weaker trees and lofting of unsecured objects. Power outages are also possible. The worst of the wind looking to be Thursday late morning. Temperatures will be colder, topping out near 42. Friday will be sunny but chilly with highs recovering to near 39. It will also be breezy, which will make it feel even colder with the wind chill. Saturday and Sunday will also be a bit breezy with gusts near 25 mph. Temperatures both weekend days will be very cold closer to 30 and, of course, with the winds, will feel much colder. Monday looks to be another cold one with sunshine and highs near 32. Tuesday also looks mainly sunny with highs near 35.
