BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Deputies with the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office were shot at while responding to a location off of Eden Church Road late Thursday night into early Friday morning. The sheriff's office said Faron Dillon, 40, was charged with five counts of attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer, one count of felon in possession of a firearm and one count of aggravated criminal damage to property. According to the sheriff's office, Dillon was wanted by the Lafayette Police Department and has active warrants for home invasion and aggravated assault with a firearm. LPSO said deputies tried to get Dillon to surrender peacefully, but he shot at members of the Special Response Team. "Our deputies attempted to negotiate a peaceful surrender. That did not happen. Instead, our Special Response Team had to be called in and our deputies were met with gunfire courtesy Mr. Dillon," LPSO said. Dillon was taken into custody and booked into the parish prison. There were no reported injuries.
