CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) -- A body with gunshot wounds was located along the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail on Sunday afternoon, Chesapeake Police said. At approximately 12:45 p.m., police responded to 1200 George Washington Highway in reference to a body found in the water along the shoreline of the park entrance. When Chesapeake Police Underwater Search and Rescue Team retrieved the male victim from the water, they discovered he had been shot. Detectives are investigating this as a homicide. There is no additional information at this time.
