HUSKER VOLLEYBALL: Beason Selected First Overall by Atlanta in PVF Draft

(File photo Courtesy of Nebraska Athletics)LINCOLN–(KFOR Nov. 22)–The second annual Pro Volleyball Federation draft was held Monday morning and Nebraska outside hitter Merritt Beason was the No. 1 pick overall, selected by the Atlanta Vibe and coached by former Husker volleyball player Kayla Banwarth.
Beason, a senior, has averaged 3.0 kills per set this season while hitting at a .246 clip. She had a season high 22 kills against Purdue in mid-October. She was an AVCA All-American in 2023 as well as an All-Big Ten First team member. The Atlanta Vibe traded up to get the first pick to select Beason.
The Pro Volleyball Federation is made up of eight teams – the Indy Ignite, San Diego Mojo, Vegas Thrill, Columbus Fury, Omaha Supernovas, Atlanta Vibe, Orlando Valkyries, and Grand Rapids Rise.
