SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Rock 102's 31st annual Mayflower Marathon is underway, collecting much-needed food and funds for Open Pantry Community Services. For 52 hours straight, Rock 102 hosts Bax and Nagle will be broadcasting live from outside the South End Market at MGM Springfield. The donation process is simple, you just have to drive up to the volunteers for help to unload. The Mayflower Marathon brings the community together through the collection of non-perishable food donations. The goal is to fill as many truck trailers as possible with donations for the Open Pantry. They are also accepting cash and check donations in person and online. With Thanksgiving on Thursday and the rest of the busy holiday season right behind it, now is the perfect time to pitch in and help feed people in need here in western Massachusetts. Last year, the Mayflower Marathon was able to raise about $234,000 and included so many donations.. they needed to call in more trucks to transport the goods. This year, they are starting with four 53-foot tractor-trailers with the possibility of adding more. Bax and Nagle will be on the air from MGM Springfield's South End Market the entire time thanking everyone for donating as well as hosting a few celebrity guests on the show for the marathon.
