SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Local leaders are unveiling a new plan to help the City's homeless. They're launching a program to give them a first step to a better future. Chatham County officials will host a community showcase for a mobile shower unit this afternoon. They say this is a good first step in connecting the homeless population with important resources. The program is called "Project Hope Water." The goal is to provide access to regular, safe and clean showers for the city's homeless. On top of that, officials tell WSAV it's a good way to assist those in need renew their confidence and seek other services they may need. The Chatham County Commissioners support the program along with money from the American Rescue Plan Act. The event is happening at 2 p.m. on Monday afternoon. It will take place at Kingdom Life Fellowship on West Montgomery Crossroad. For more information click here. Officials tell WSAV that the shower unit will be mobile.
