(KRON) -- A man was arrested after stabbing his wife Saturday morning and confessing to killing his biological mother, the Vallejo Police Department announced in a press release. Officers responded to the stabbing at around 8:43 a.m. on the 900 block of Sereno Drive. After they arrived at the scene, police discovered that a man and woman were both suffering from at least one stab wound. According to police, both were initially listed to be in critical condition but are expected to survive. The man stabbed himself and stabbed his wife at least once, VPD added. Man suspected of breaking into Sonoma Co. home, murdering occupant The suspect was identified as 63-year-old Vallejo man Frank James McMillan. He underwent surgery for his stab wound and later confessed to killing his mother, which happened before the stabbing of his life, police said. According to VPD, McMillan killed his mother at a residence on the 100 block of Campbell Avenue in Vallejo. Police did not say when and what time that incident occurred. VPD did not detail how the suspect killed his mother. However, the incident marks the 21st homicide in Vallejo this year, according to police. Vallejo officers conducted a welfare check at the Campbell Avenue residence and forced entry after "receiving no response," police said. The body of McMillan's mother was found inside the home. McMillan was arrested for attempted murder and murder, VPD said. The mother's identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Solano County Sheriff's Coroner's Office. VPD is still investigating the crime.
