VERMILLION, S.D. (KELO) -- The USD men's basketball team claimed a 93-79 win over Southern at the Sanford Coyotes Sports Center Monday night.
The Coyotes jumped on top early and scored 12 of the game's first 14 points. They led by as many as 14 in the opening half and held a 40-30 advantage heading into the locker room. In the second half, the South Dakota stretched the lead out to as much as 21.
The Yotes shot 51.6% for the game, including a torching 6-for-9 from 3-point land in the second half. It was a balanced scoring attack with five players in double figures with three of those performers coming off the bench.
Paul Bruns led the way with 14 points and knocked down three of his six 3-point attempts. Chase Forte followed with 13 points and six assists. Max Burchill and Isaac Bruns each tallied 12, and Dre Bullock added 11.
The Coyotes welcome in Texas A&M Commerce Wednesday night.
