(KRON) -- Thirteen suspects were arrested last week in connection to organized theft in the Noe Valley and Mission neighborhoods, the San Francisco Police Department said in a news release. Retail businesses on the 1300 block of Castro Street and the 1100 block of Potrero Avenue were chosen for retail theft abatement due to a "high number of shoplifting incidents" in the area.
With the help of uniformed and plainclothes officers, all 13 suspects were arrested on Oct. 29, and 10 adult suspects were cited and released at the scene, according to SFPD. More than $1,600 worth of stolen merchandise was recovered.
Two adult suspects were booked into San Francisco County Jail for outstanding warrants in addition to the latest theft charges. A minor was "admonished" at the scene, SFPD said. Amidst one of the thefts, officers located a replica firearm on one of the suspects.
