Police are investigating after a car went over a steep bluff along the shoreline in Carlsbad on Monday, prompting road closures in the area, department officials said. Officers closed all lanes on Carlsbad Boulevard between Cerezo Drive and Island Way for their investigation, police said in a statement posted around 5 p.m. to X, formerly known as Twitter. All westbound lanes on Palomar Airport Road near Avenida Encinas were also closed. The condition of the driver and details about the events leading up to the crash were not immediately available.
