Two people hospitalized after fiery crash in Smithfield

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island State Police said two people were hospitalized with minor injuries after a crash on I-295 south.
Two cars collided and caught fire on Friday near exit 15B, shutting down the highway.
Traffic was at a standstill, with commuters driving down the breakdown lane to avoid the backup.
Other drivers resorted to crossing the median to avoid the traffic.
Police said the scene was cleared around 4:30 p.m.
