City Hall wants people living in places stretching between Prospector and upper Deer Valley, as well as the other neighborhoods, to assist as leaders craft an update to the municipal General Plan, an overarching document that guides growth in the community.Leaders are updating the General Plan for the first time in a decade and as part of the effort are seeking Parkites for appointments to Neighborhood Advisory Committees. The committees will be geographically based and comprise of three people who will serve in volunteer capacities.According to a release from the municipal government, the individual committees will cover:            Old Town             Park Meadows             Prospector             Thaynes Canyon             Bonanza Park and Snow Creek             the Resort Center             lower Deer Valley             upper Deer Valley             Quinn’s Junction             Masonic Hill“The current effort to update the plan provides an opportunity to identify how Park City should evolve, grow, and develop in the coming decade and beyond,” the City Hall release says.It also says the Neighborhood Advisory Committees will assist leaders in learning “about specific challenges and opportunities.”The City Hall-provided information about the Neighborhood Advisory Committees indicates updating the General Plan may be a 10-month process. The members of the committees could spend several hours each month until the work is completed. One of the roles will involve assisting with neighborhood meetings. The General Plan is a crucial municipal document since it essentially underpins growth-related decisions. City Hall’s detailed development rules, outlined in another document known as the Land Management Code, are influenced by the General Plan, as an example. The upcoming work will occur as Parkites remain worried about growth and closely linked issues like traffic, affordability and sustainability. The concerns have appeared to stretch through the various neighborhoods identified in the individual advisory committees. The input from the committees covering lower Deer Valley, Bonanza Park and Snow Creek and the Resort Center could be especially notable since each of those locations in recent years have been fronts in the discussions about development.Deer Valley Resort is in talks with Park City about a major development concept outside Snow Park in lower Deer Valley. A project, as envisioned, would transform that location into a full-service base area. There has long been the possibility of significant redevelopment in Bonanza Park and Snow Creek, including on Bonanza Park acreage owned by City Hall itself. There are development rights, meanwhile, attached to the Park City Mountain parking lots at the Resort Center. The committee discussions about Park Meadows, Prospector and Thaynes Canyon could also draw attention since they are some of the most populated areas of Park City, while Old Town will likely be of note, too, with so much attention paid to the neighborhood over the years.Applications are due on Friday by 5 p.m. via email, [email protected]. City Hall wants applications to include whether someone lives in Park City on a full-time or part-time basis and the number of years someone has lived in the city. Officials also want applications to include a description of someone’s interest in serving on a Neighborhood Advisory Committee.More information about the Neighborhood Advisory Committees is available on the municipal website, parkcity.org.
