(COLORADO) — The Rocky Mountain Region of the USDA Forest Service is hiring for the 2025 fire season and applications will open this week. According to the Forest Service, it is looking to fill 200 temporary, seasonal wildland firefighters positions, and those interested in applying can do so beginning Thursday, Oct. 24 through Nov. 6, 2024. The positions will span across five states including; Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wyoming. "Firefighter positions include engine operators, hotshot crew members, hand crew members, helitack crew members, fuels technicians, fire lookouts, dispatchers, and other essential fire management positions," wrote the Forest Service. Job information, including locations and application details, can be found here. According to the Forest Service, selections could begin as early as Dec. 17, 2024, and primary selections will be completed by Jan. 29, 2025.
