RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – It was a contentious week for Rio Rancho public schools this week as ideologies clashed about what should be allowed in classrooms. Several speakers gave public comments during the meeting with some advocating to bring "safe space" signage for LGBTQIA+ students. This comes as teachers at Cleveland High School received an email last year saying that all pride flags must be removed from any of the school's signage. New Mexico court system in need of interpreters Additionally, there were parents and staff suggesting administrators put Christian bibles in public school libraries. Some argued it would provide moral and ethical benefits. Speakers also suggested starting what is considered to be "evangelical bible clubs" called "Good News Clubs." A spokesperson for Rio Rancho Public Schools said bibles are already allowed in school libraries.
