LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) - Latino leaders came together to address the top issues impacting the well-being and prosperity of Latinos and the Commonwealth. The Dímelo! Talks series is a collaboration between Unidos in Power, The LatinoEDC, the Western Massachusetts Development Council, and Bay Path University. This series is meant to focus on the fact Latinos are the fastest-growing and younger communities of color, that are shaping the present and future of Massachusetts. This event features a series of TED talk-style presentations, where two Latino experts will deliver 15-minute talks focused on the local and national context of the Latino community in Housing, Education, Workforce, Economic Development, Health & Climate, and Immigration. "All the different focuses across our state healthcare education, workforce of development we want to make an impact in our community, so the Latino agenda is the state-wide agenda. We are able to reach out to business owners to CEOs, the banks and making sure that that impact is heard and that's exactly the theme of today," said Founder of the LatinoEDC, Andrew Melendez. Following the talks, a panel of statewide elected officials from Western Massachusetts,will engage in a dynamic discussion to outline how the current legislature is addressing the pressing issues facing the Latino community.
