SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. -- A personal assistant and boutique owner accused of stealing hundreds of thousand dollars from her boss to fund an "extravagant lifestyle" has now been indicted. Ivey Jennings was indicted on a new count of identity theft as well as theft of property over $250,000. The indictment states she stole her boss's money and identity for nearly three years. Mimi Morton creator accused of stealing $600K from boss Investigators say Jennings, whose alter ego was Mimi Morton according to court records, accessed her boss's bank accounts and purchased a Lexus SUV, spent almost $300,000 on her credit cards at various stores and another $300,000 at a wholesale market without her boss's permission. In April, she got out of jail on a $60,000 bond. Friday, Jennings was supposed to be back in court for a bond arraignment now that she's been indicted, but her attorney provided an affidavit to excuse her presence. "She does live in South Carolina and is also a high risk pregnancy at this time," the attorney told the judge. Jennings' attorney said traveling from South Carolina back to 201 Poplar with a high risk pregnancy makes it hard to make any court hearings at this time. Since the state agreed, the judge signed off. Jennings' attorney promised to provide a doctor's note for the judge. Her attorney present in court Friday declined to comment. We have reached out to her main attorney, but have yet to hear back. Meanwhile, across the street in chancery court, WREG Investigators got a copy of a civil complaint filed earlier this year. It alleged Jennings "unlawfully converted at least $3,408,897" from her boss through "a long-standing scheme." Jennings is due back in criminal court next month.
