Nearly 100 pounds of fireworks seized by Oakland police

(KRON) -- With July 4 coming up later this week, the Oakland Police Department is working to get fireworks off the streets. OPD announced that it seized nearly 100 pounds of fireworks on Saturday evening.
A report called into OPD said a person armed with a gun was selling fireworks out of the trunk of their car near 7th Street and Willow Street, which is near the West Oakland BART station.

Officers arrived to find nearly 100 pounds of fireworks for sale. Two people were detained, and one was arrested, but police did not find any guns.
OPD gave the fireworks to the Oakland Fire Department to be confiscated. OFD has also set up barrels for people to dump fireworks that will not be used. They stand at the following locations:

OPD has set up a fireworks tip line for residents to call if they see someone selling or lighting fireworks at (510) 238-2373.
