HOWARD, Wis. (WFRV) - The Fourth of July is near, and area residents are stopping by fireworks stores to make their purchases, including Uncle Sam Fireworks in Howard. "Every year, we stop here and stock up on fireworks," said Jeremy Sodam. Wisconsin native Sam Brooker debuts Packers-themed song ‘The Town of Green Bay’ Some focus on the sound the fireworks make, while others are looking for a quieter display. The latter is the case for Ryan Kamin, who stopped by American Tradition Fireworks in Sobieski. "We have a lot of kids coming to our party," said Kamin. "We're trying to do things that are more sparkly and colorful. Less of the bangs, less of the pops. Trying to keep them from running away screaming, hopefully." But before lighting off those fireworks, fire officials are urging caution. "The safest thing is, in general, don't let kids work with the fireworks. Don't have them play with them," said Ashley Degreef, Public Relations Coordinator with Suamico Fire. "But knowing if they do use the sparklers, to hold them out away from them, making sure that it's not going to catch on their clothing or anything like that." First Brown County Frogger event of 2024 yields 110+ warnings, 89% compliance Once you're done with the fireworks, do not just throw them in the trash. "At the end of the night, when you're done with fireworks, just throw them all in a tub of water and empty them in the morning," said Degreef.
