Summit County is seeking feedback for a new pedestrian bridge that would cross S.R. 224 in Kimball Junction near Ute Boulevard. As part of redevelopment and transportation improvements coming to Kimball Junction, Summit County is working with the Utah Department of Transportation and the Arts C ouncil of Park City and Summit County to design and install the bridge. Through Sunday, people can complete a survey and provide feedback on three designs. These architectural renderings are illustrative. Final structural engineering requirements, building codes, and material adjustments may alter the visual outcome and dimensions, the county said. Credit: Renderings courtesy of Summit County “This bridge could stand for 75 years or more — serving the needs of millions of people,” said Carl Miller, director of transportation planning for Summit County. “We want to hear from the public about what they like and what other features we can plan for to make the best version of the bridge that we can.” The Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity earlier this year designated Kimball Junction a “Housing and Transit Reinvestment Zone.” It encompasses a 60-acre area centered on the transit center and, in addition to the pedestrian bridge, includes the following improvements:  The relocation of the Summit County Library and DMV into the PEAK Center. New civic buildings, a public plaza surrounded by mixed uses, a park and an amphitheater. Dedicated senior care and medical facilities. The need for a dedicated pedestrian crossing was identified in UDOT’s 2025 Kimball Junction Environmental Impact Statement, but Summit County offered to assume some additional costs in order to construct a bridge that would be a signature feature in the community.
