CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Dennikia Boyce, the 37-year-old woman wanted in connection with the shooting death of two Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) contractors, has been charged in federal court. According to court documents obtained by 8News, the U.S. Marshals Service has rea son to believe she may be in North Carolina. Monday, Sept. 7, marks more than six weeks since Virginia State Police responded to a shooting on VDOT property used as a staging area near the intersection of Route 1 and 288 just before 9:30 a.m. on Friday, July 24, for a report of a shooting. Police previously told 8News that two men contracted by VDOT -- 30-year-old Rai’Shon Eugene Delarge and 34-year-old Philip Avery Wilson -- were shot and killed that day. Authorities later identified Boyce, who is known to one of the victims, as the suspect. She has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder and has been on the run since the late July shooting. 8News obtained a federal criminal complaint filed against Boyce. The complaint alleges that Boyce left Virginia to avoid prosecution. A statement provided by a U.S. Marshals Service Deputy states that Boyce lived in Emporia for the past three years and left the scene shortly after the shooting. Later that day, Boyce was reportedly seen on surveillance at a Walmart in Ahoskie, N.C. -- about two hours south of where the shooting occurred. On Sunday, July 26, Boyce was reportedly seen on surveillance at a Sunoco 30 minutes north of the Walmart in Conoway, N.C. Two days later, on Tuesday, July 28, the Northampton County Sheriff's Office found a blue Honda Accord registered to Boyce parked behind a church in Pendleton, N.C. Officials said Boyce fled Central Virginia because of her murder charges and is currently in North Carolina. She has been charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution and could face up to five years in prison, according to 8News legal Analyst Russ Stone. In August, the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force announced it is working with Virginia State Police to find Boyce. Authorities described Boyce as a Black woman with black hair and brown eyes who stands about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds. A $10,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to Boyce's arrest.
