Beagles rescued from Wisconsin testing lab relocated to the Bay Area

Dozens of beagles were getting settled into new homes across the Bay Area this week after being rescued from an animal breeding and testing lab in Wisconsin.
The beagle brigade arrived in the Bay Area on Sunday, received by a team of volunteers determined to give the dogs a better life.
“We
believed that those animals needed help and we would stop at nothing to protect them,” rescuer Dean Wyrzykowski said.
Wyrzykowski, of San Francisco, was arrested twice this year after attempting to rescue the dogs from a facility called Ridglan Farms.
“Ridglan Farms is the second largest dog testing and breeding facility in the United States,” Wyrzykowski said. “They conduct biomedical research. It is part of a larger animal testing industry that tests on tens of thousands of beagles every single year, subjecting them to cruel experiments.”
The company recently agreed to stop breeding beagles for testing and to sell 1,500 of its dogs to rescue organizations. Northern California Beagle Rescue is spearheading relocation efforts in the Bay Area.
