A Beautiful Tuesday Across Central And Eastern Kentucky It has been an absolutely beautiful start to the day across Central and Eastern Kentucky with plenty of sunshine and comfortable temperatures across the region. Clear skies and light winds this morning helped create a crisp and refreshing st art, but temperatures are quickly warming up as we head into the afternoon hours. Afternoon highs today are expected to climb back into the upper 70s, making for another near-perfect spring day across the Bluegrass. Clouds Return Tonight Ahead Of A Midweek Cold Front As we head into tonight, conditions will remain dry through much of the evening before clouds gradually begin increasing overnight ahead of our next approaching weather system. A cold front tied to a low pressure system over the Upper Midwest will begin pushing southeast toward Kentucky overnight tonight into Wednesday morning. While moisture with this system remains somewhat limited due to dry air near the surface, it will still be enough to bring scattered showers into the forecast by early Wednesday morning. Temperatures tonight will fall back into the upper 40s and low 50s before clouds begin thickening overnight. Scattered Showers Move Through Wednesday Morning The best chance for rain on Wednesday will come during the morning hours as a few thin bands of showers move southeast across southern Indiana and Central Kentucky. Rainfall totals with this system are expected to stay fairly light since dry air near the surface will limit how much moisture actually reaches the ground. Most communities will likely only pick up light rainfall totals. There is only a very low chance for a thunderstorm Wednesday afternoon, mainly across far eastern Kentucky and areas east of Interstate 75 where just enough instability may develop later in the day. Overall, severe weather is not expected. By Wednesday afternoon and evening, showers will gradually move out of the region with skies beginning to clear once again. Afternoon highs Wednesday will still reach into the mid 70s before cooler air filters in behind the front later in the evening. Cooler But Comfortable Weather Returns Thursday And Friday Once the cold front clears the area Wednesday night, cooler and drier air will settle back into Kentucky for Thursday. Thursday is shaping up to be another nice spring day with plenty of sunshine and highs returning to the upper 60s and low 70s. Overnight lows Wednesday night will cool back into the upper 40s under mostly clear skies. Friday will be another beautiful day as temperatures rebound back into the mid to upper 70s with sunshine continuing across the area. There is a slight chance for a few scattered showers Friday afternoon and evening as another weak disturbance approaches the Ohio Valley. Summer-Like Heat Builds In This Weekend As we head toward the weekend, Kentucky is set to transition into a much warmer weather pattern. A warm air mass moving into the region will send temperatures soaring into the mid and upper 80s this weekend, with some locations potentially reaching the low 90s by Sunday and even Monday. Areas west of Interstate 65 have the highest chance of hitting 90 degrees Sunday afternoon. With the warmer temperatures and increasing humidity, isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible Saturday through Monday, especially during the afternoon and evening hours when daytime heating is at its peak. Even though rain chances remain fairly isolated, it will definitely begin feeling much more like summer across Kentucky by the end of the week.
