The season begins with a three-week engagement of “The Lion King.” Porter, public relations director for Broadway in Indianapolis, said the production is intended to bring families back to the theater. “It’s one that we love to bring back,” Porter said. “And it has been about eight years since we’ve had it here.” Porter noted that the production is a large-scale spectacle produced by Disney. The 2026-2027 schedule includes the Indianapolis premiere of “Mrs. Doubtfire,” a musical based on the Robin Williams film. Porter described the show as humorous and full of heart. Another premiere joining the lineup is “The Great Gatsby,” which is currently running on Broadway. “It brings the roaring 20s to life with glitz and glamour, big tap numbers,” Porter said of “The Great Gatsby.” “It’s a big, beautiful Broadway show.” In January, the season will feature “The Sound of Music.” Porter referred to the production as a classic that serves as a blueprint for American musical theater. The schedule also includes the premiere of “A Beautiful Noise,” a musical detailing the life and career of singer Neil Diamond. The season will conclude with “The Book of Mormon,” which is returning to the city due to popular demand. Porter characterized the production as irreverent and silly. The lineup also features “The Outsiders,” based on the novel by S.E. Hinton, which won the 2024 Tony Award for Best Musical. A total of eight shows will be featured across 10 weeks of performances. This includes “Hadestown,” which is offered as a season option. The production of “Hadestown” will consist of five performances held at Clowes Memorial Hall in March. “We have a total of eight shows in the season,” Porter said. “Get ready. Buckle up.” Renewing subscribers can purchase tickets for the upcoming season immediately. Porter noted that tickets will be made available to the general public at a later date.
