SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Kevin's Noodle House, a popular pho restaurant in San Francisco's Inner Sunset, was ordered closed due to a roach infestation. A report from the San Francisco Department of Public Health indicated a major violation resulting in a suspension of the restaurant's permit.
Observ
ations in the report indicated a live roach on top of a dish machine "where a box of recently delivered lettuce was stored." That roach, the report says, was killed by the operator who was advised not to place anything on top of the machine as "they are potential sources of roach harborage."

Later, during the same inspection, another adult sized roach was seen on top of the same machine. Inspectors also saw a pest control service report from March 7 recommending a "heavy treatment for roaches."
The report also indicated a major violation when it came to clean and sanitized food contact surfaces. Several other violations were corrected on-site during the inspection, including compliance with shell stock tags, compliance with Gulf Oyster Regulations, consumer advisory for raw and undercooked foods, and compliance with variance, specialized processes and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).
Corrective action for the restaurant, which is also known as Pho Huynh Hiep, include eliminating the roach infestation, cleaning and sanitizing food contact surfaces, and sealing gaps and openings throughout the facility where vermin could enter.
The Kevin's Noodle House on Irving is one of six locations around the Bay Area. The popular noodle spot has a 4-star rating on Yelp and 3.9 stars on Tripadvisor.
KRON4's attempts to reach someone at the restaurant by phone were unsuccessful.
