The partnership allows the Urban Indian Health Pierre Clinic to access food that will stock their new food pantry for three weeks out of every month. The new space has freezer and shelf stable food storage and will be open to all relatives in need. Melisa Marmo, Community Partnership Coordinator at Feeding South Dakota, said South Dakota Urban Indian Health knows the community and the needs of the people they serve. She said partnerships like this are how we make real progress against hunger, and Feeding South Dakota is proud to work alongside them to help more individuals and families access healthy food. Colette Keith, Executive Director for South Dakota Urban Indian Health, said as part of their integrated care model, it just made sense for them to address the direct needs of their food insecure relatives. The Pierre SDUIH Food Pantry is open the 1st, 3rd and 4th week of each month. The hours Monday–Thursday are from 9am–5pm and Fridays from 9–11am. The SDUIH Pierre Clinic is located at 339 S. Pierre Street. The phone number is 605-224-8841. ...read more read less
