SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- What's not to like about a technology that could potentially wipe out half of all entry-level white-collar jobs and has already been directly tied to thousands of layoffs? A lot, apparently. That's what's suggested anyway from a new poll that found artificial intelligence is less popular than ICE. The poll from NBC News surveyed 1,000 respondents. Oracle to cut thousands of jobs to fund AI data centers: report Of those surveyed, just 26% had a positive view of AI, while 46% held a negative view toward the technology. That means people view the technology less favorably than they do U.S. Immigrations Customs and Enforcement (ICE), which was seen as positive by 38% of respondents and negative by 56%. Those numbers could amount to a PR problem for a technology that's being sold to American workers and investors as the single greatest technological advance since the internet. Also, more popular than AI, according to the poll? Sanctuary cities, Vice President JD Vance, Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, President Donald Trump, former VP Kamala Harris, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Stephen Colbert, Pope Leo, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the Republican Party. Was there anything less popular than AI according to the poll? Despite mixed feelings from the American public about the current ongoing U.S. military action, Iran was rock bottom of the poll with only 8% of respondents holding a positive view of the country and 61% holding a negative view. And in what could be seen as a warning sign for a political party widely projected to clean up in this year's midterms, the Democratic Party also polled below AI with 30% holding a positive view toward it and 52% holding a negative view. ...read more read less
