Frozen meatballs sold at Aldi recalled over potential contamination with ‘metal fragments’
Feb 23, 2026
(NEXSTAR) – Frozen meatballs that had been shipped to Aldi supermarkets across the country are being recalled due to potential contamination with “metal fragments,” according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS).
The frozen meatballs, which were prod
uced by Rosina Food Products, Inc., were sold in 32-ounce packages as “Bremer Family Size Italian Style Meatballs,” the FSIS notice says. Roughly 9,500 pounds of the product are affected.
The FSIS said the issue was discovered after a customer complained of finding “metal fragments within the product,” but the agency said there had been no reports of injuries as of Feb. 22.
A representative for Rosina Food Products was not immediately available to provide additional details on the fragments, nor on whether the company had learned how the product may have been contaminated.

Anyone who may have purchased the meatballs is being “urged not to consume them” but to dispose of them or return them to Aldi for a refund, the FSIS says.
The affected meatballs were produced on June 30, 2025. Consumers can identify units of the recalled product via several marks on the packaging, according to the FSIS notice: a “best by” date of Oct. 30, 2026; a timestamp of “between 17:08 through 18:20 printed on the back of the label,” and the establishment number “EST. 4286B” printed inside the USDA mark of inspection.”
Customers with concerns are being advised to call Rosina Food Products at 1-888-767-4621 or email the company’s customer service team at [email protected].
