WINCHESTER, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — The newly formed Winchester Police–Clark County Sheriff’s Special Response Team was deployed for the first time Sunday afternoon to serve a court order and arrest a suspect, authorities said. Officials said the team responded just before 4 p.m. to a residen ce in the 300 block of Botts Court to enforce a judge’s Emergency Protection Order requiring Michael Hicks to vacate the home. Authorities said Hicks also had an outstanding arrest warrant. According to police, Hicks allegedly made threats toward law enforcement and refused to answer the door, prompting the deployment of the Special Response Team. Team Commander Sgt. Wes Conway briefed officers prior to the operation. After a perimeter was established, officers issued a callout for Hicks to exit the residence. Police said Hicks attempted to flee out the rear of the home, where officers took him into custody without further incident. Hicks was lodged in the Clark County Detention Center and faces multiple charges. The Clark County Animal Shelter also responded to the scene and took custody of several animals that required removal.
