Nearly three weeks after Philadelphia’s biggest snowstorm in a decade, city crews were finally able to remove massive piles of snow and ice along Center City parking lanes.
The Philadelphia Streets Department began removing large piles of snow and ice along JFK Boulevard around 4 a.m. on Saturd

More than nine inches of snow fell in Philadelphia back on Jan. 25. The snow didn’t melt in the days and weeks that followed due to frigid temperatures that lingered throughout the region.
Many residents throughout Philadelphia criticized the city’s response as mounds of snow and ice remained on sidewalks, crosswalks and roads, making it difficult for people to get around, especially those with disabilities.
The snow finally began to melt the week of Feb. 9 as temperatures rose above freezing, making it easier for crews to clear the snow. Members of the Streets Department told NBC10 they’ve been working 10-hour shifts since the winter storm and will continue to do so as they try to clear out more snow and ice.
