Police are searching for a man who they said tried to rob a movie theater with a knife in Deptford Township, New Jersey. According to the Deptford Township Police Department, on January 29, 2026, around 1:30 a.m., officers were called to the AMC 8 Theater in Deptford Township after receiving a re port of an armed robbery. Police said when officers got to the scene, they were met with an employee who was working alone. The employee reported that they were threatened by an unknown man armed with a knife, according to police. After realizing that no money was available, police said the suspect fled the scene on foot through the rear emergency exit of the theater. The suspect was last seen fleeing towards the rear of the property. Police describe the suspect as a man of average height and build. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, dark pants, dark footwear, a large shoulder bag, and a silver-colored knife.
