The situation was assumed to be the classic set-up: A mother protecting her cubs. Some community members even believed the bear to be Grizzly 399, the world-famous bruin who died in October 2024. The yurts will be open to the general public, with the last full weekend of each month designated for people with Americans with Disabilities Act needs. The new yurts, close to the highway, are accessible by snowmobile in winter or car in summer. Funding for the project came from the nonprofit Bear River Outdoor Recreation Alliance and a 50% matching Utah Outdoor Recreation grant.
