(CNN)– The average cost of a new car is at a record high. It’s around $50,000, according to Edmunds and Kelley Blue Book. No new models under $20,000 remain on the market. The cost to import cars and auto parts is 25% more now due to tariffs. U.S. automakers are trying to eat that cost, but the duties seem to have doomed low-cost vehicles.
