Richmond, Va (WRIC) -- All eyes on the potential for a Wintry Mix on Sunday, across all Central Virginia. Details below. Tonight’s forecast for Saturday night into Sunday morning, calls for mostly cloudy skies overnight, slowly dropping temperatures from the upper 30s to around 40 degrees early i n the evening, to then the middle 30s by the daybreak hours of Sunday. Our next weather system will be coming overnight into Sunday morning, bringing initially for hours on Sunday morning a chilly rain to the region, then transitioning over to rain and snow mix by sunrise on Sunday, if not later into the morning hours. Tomorrow’s forecast for Sunday calls for mostly cloudy skies throughout the entire day, temperatures holding steady in the middle 30s all day long, and chilly rain mixing in with wet snow from time to time. The majority of Central Virginia tomorrow from approximately 6:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m. will see a general dusting to 1 inch of wet snowfall, with some isolated locations seeing 1+ inches possible.   Tomorrow night into Monday morning, calls for clearing out skies and cold temperatures overnight, getting down to 20 to 25 degrees by Monday morning. We will have to monitor for isolated icy spots on roads on Monday morning. Monday is MLK Jr Day, and we will see mostly sunny skies, breezy conditions from time to time and cool temperatures, rising to 40 to 45 degrees. Tuesday will be a very chilly day from start to finish, under mostly sunny skies and highs only rising to 35 degrees. Wednesday will be a partly sunny day with cool temperatures, rising to near 45 degrees. Thursday will be another partly sunny day with seasonable temperatures rising to around 50 degrees. Finally, next Friday, Saturday and Sunday all call for mostly cloudy skies, cool temperatures continuing and I put “watching” on both weekend days next weekend, as the computer weather models are suggesting possibly a wintry mix happening next weekend, but it is way too early for details on that. ...read more read less
