Jan. 11 | Evening forecast with Meteorologist Drew Narsutis TONIGHT Clouds fade at times as we head through the evening, then we trend partly cloudy overnight. Lows in the mid 20s, with a southwest wind around 10 mph, gusts up to 20 mph. It is a quieter night after the weekend cold, and r oads stay in good shape.  TOMORROW A sunnier, milder day, highs in the low to mid 40s, with a southwest wind around 15 mph and gusts up to 30 mph. This is the start of the thaw, and it should feel noticeably better for midday errands and getting outside. If you are heading downtown Monday evening for the Pacers game, the wind is still up, so plan on a colder feel outside the arena even with the milder temps.  TOMORROW NIGHT Partly cloudy and not as cold, lows around 30, with a south southwest wind around 5 mph. A good night for travel, and we keep building toward a warmer Tuesday.  TUESDAY Partly sunny and milder again, highs in the upper 40s, with a southwest wind around 15 mph and gusts up to 30 mph. Most of the day stays dry, and this is one of the better feeling afternoons of the week before rain chances ramp up at night.  TUESDAY NIGHT Rain chances increase, mainly later evening into overnight. Lows in the upper 30s, with a west southwest wind around 10 mph and gusts up to 20 mph. Not a washout, but keep the umbrella handy if you are out late, and watch for a few slick spots developing toward daybreak if temperatures start dropping faster than expected.  WEDNESDAY A messy transition day. We start with rain chances, then colder air pushes in and we could flip to a rain and wet snow mix by afternoon. Highs in the low 40s early, then trending colder late, with a west wind around 15 mph and gusts up to 25 mph. If that changeover happens while you are driving home, visibility can drop quickly in heavier bursts, and roads can go from just wet to slushy in a hurry.  WEDNESDAY NIGHT Colder air takes over with a chance of snow showers. Lows in the upper teens, with a north northwest wind around 15 mph and gusts up to 25 mph. A light accumulation is possible, and even a thin coating can create slick spots on bridges and less traveled roads, especially late.  THURSDAY Much colder with a mix of clouds and limited sun, highs in the upper 20s. A north northwest wind around 10 mph and gusts up to 20 mph keeps wind chills down in the teens for much of the day. This is the kind of cold that bites quickly if you are outside for any length of time, so bundle up and limit exposed skin.  THURSDAY NIGHT Partly cloudy and cold with a small chance of a light snow shower late. Lows around 20, with a northwest wind around 10 mph becoming lighter late. Even if it is dry, any moisture on roads can refreeze, so take it easy on ramps and overpasses overnight.  7 DAY FORECAST After a brief thaw Monday and Tuesday, the pattern turns unsettled midweek with rain Tuesday night and a likely changeover to snow showers Wednesday into Wednesday night as colder air pours back in. From Thursday into next weekend, the bigger story is the colder trend, highs mainly in the 20s to low 30s with teens at night, and periodic light snow chances in a couple waves, not looking like a major storm right now, but enough to keep an eye on travel impacts and wind chills. Confidence is high on the mild start to the week and the midweek cooldown, and a bit lower on exact snow timing and how much, since small shifts in temperature can change a quick coating into something more meaningful. ...read more read less
