According to data from LPD, crypto scam reports decreased from 133 cases in 2024 to 127 in 2025.  But total losses in crypto scams increased from $3. 1 million in 2024 to $4.4 million in 2025. LPD said each victim lost an average of almost $35,000 last year.  LPD public information manager Erika Thomas says this past November and December were its lowest months of 2025 with five reports each after the city announced plans to create a new ordinance focused on the issue and place warnings at every crypto ATM in Lincoln.  The ordinance was signed in November by Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and the deadline for sticker placement was Dec. 24. ...read more read less
