KENTUCKY (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Several new laws are now in effect across Kentucky with the start of the new year, including changes to taxes and new regulations on tobacco, nicotine and THC products. One of the changes comes under House Bill 1, which reduces Kentucky’s individual income tax ra te. Lawmakers say the rate has been lowered from 4% to 3.5%. Senate Bill 100 is also now in effect. Under that law, retailers who sell tobacco, nicotine and vape products are required to obtain a license through the state’s Alcoholic Beverage Control system. Another new law, Senate Bill 202, regulates where THC-infused drinks can be sold. Starting this year, the measure prohibits the sale of THC-infused seltzers at fairs and festivals across the state. Lawmakers say the changes are part of broader efforts to adjust tax policy and increase oversight of certain products sold in Kentucky.
