Teen charged with attempted malicious wounding of Prince William County officer

WOODBRIDGE, Va. (DC News Now) -- A 17-year-old is facing multiple charges after an alleged attempted malicious wounding of an officer in Woodbridge Thursday, according to the Prince William County Police Department.
Police say officers responded to reports of vehicle tampering around 3:30 a.m. a
t the Orchard Mills Apartments in the 3300 block of Bronson Ct.
As officers were checking the parking lot, a car sped up and hit the cop car before driving away, prompting a police chase.

According to police, the chase began on Benita Fitzgerald Drive. The car eventually passed Dale Blvd. and drove into a wooded area. The driver stopped and was detained while a passenger ran away from the scene.
Police say no injuries were reported.
Officers, a police K-9, and a Fairfax Police helicopter could not locate the passenger, who remains unknown.
After an initial investigation, police determined the car was stolen and the driver, a 17-year-old, was charged with two counts of attempted malicious wounding of a law enforcement official, possession of stolen property and hit-and-run.
