New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker is gaining ground on Kamala Harris to be the Democratic party’s 2028 presidential candidate, but he still has a long way to go. An Echelon Insights survey taken between April 10 and April 14 shows Booker gained nine points since last month. Of the roughly 1,000 responde nts polled, 11% said they like the 55-year-old Democrat over former Vice President Kamala Harris, who lost the 2024 election to Republican President Donald Trump. Harris at 28% still holds a commanding lead over Booker, but her numbers are down 5% from March. Booker generated considerable media attention after delivering a record-breaking 25-hour and 5-minute speech that began in March and ended in April. Harris has kept a relatively low profile since her defeat. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is at 5%. Only Harris and Booker reached double digits. An Echelon Insights poll asking respondents to rank likely Republican candidates to be their party’s nominee in 2028 found overwhelmingly that the race is Vice President JD Vance‘s to lose.
