Kwasniak, Jones named OHSCBA boys basketball players of the year

Honors continue to roll in for seniors Quinn Kwasniak and Dorian Jones as their high school careers come to a close.
Both were named their division player of the year by the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association. The OHSBCA announced its players of the year, with one each in the seven divi
sions, in a news release on April 2.
Kwasniak was announced as the player of the year in Division VII, while Jones was named the player of the year in Division V.
Kwasniak led Cornerstone Christian to the D-VII state final, the school’s first since 2018, while rewriting the record book of state history.
He became the all-time leading scorer in Ohio with a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter against BC Western Reserve in a district final. He is one of three players in Ohio to eclipse 3,000 career points.
Kwasniak also has the record for most made 3-point field goals in a season with 183 this season, as well as second place with 155 from his junior campaign.
He has also holds the career made 3-pointer record with 572.
This season, the Army commit finished averaging 37.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 7.7 assists.
Jones finished as a three-time state champion with Richmond Heights. This season, the Ohio State signee finished averaging 17 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.6 steals.
He led the Spartans back to the regional finals, where the dream of four straight state championships came up just short, falling to Lutheran East, 64-59.
Jones has led the team the past two seasons in scoring and was the Spartans’ leading scorer in the 2022-23 state title game against Crestview with 25 points.
