Woman arrested in Las Vegas for dealing drugs that resulted in death of Indianapolis man
Apr 02, 2025
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis woman was arrested in Las Vegas after a monthslong investigation found she dealt drugs that resulted in a fatal overdose in 2024.
Jasmine Bowen, 28, was taken into custody during a traffic stop on Friday.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan
Police Department, 31-year-old Trey Williams was found dead inside a home in the 10000 block of Snowdrop Way on March 15, 2024.
Investigators determined Williams had overdosed. The Marion County coroner confirmed this, ruling his cause of death an as “fentanyl intoxication.”
On March 20, officers spoke with Bowen about Williams’ death.
A probable cause affidavit says Bowen lied to detectives multiple times about communicating with Williams or supplying him drugs before his death. Throughout her interview, detectives say Bowen continuously swore “on her children’s graves” that she was not lying.
Text messages between Williams and Bowen and Bowen’s phone data showed Williams had been asking her for drugs on March 14, and that Bowen was physically with him hours before he died from an overdose. Police say there was also no evidence that Williams communicated or saw anyone after Bowen.
Bowen finally confessed to speaking with Williams after several questions and confrontations from police. She stated she didn’t give Williams any drugs but stayed with him that night because she “knew the effect” the pills would have on him.
An earlier search of Bowen’s room at an extended-stay hotel located pressed fentanyl pills, Bowen’s firearm, and an orange pill in a plastic bag. She also denied ownership of the pills. Investigators later searched Bowen’s phone and learned she’d been selling drugs since around January 2022.
Bowen was arrested following her interview for possessing a controlled substance. At the time, she did not face any charges for Williams’ death.
On Thursday, Indianapolis detectives issued an arrest warrant against Bowen for charges of dealing in a controlled substance resulting in death and dealing narcotics.
Then, on Friday, police officers in Las Vegas located Bowen driving a vehicle without a license plate and conducted a traffic stop. She was then taken into custody on her active warrant.
Bowen was being held in jail in Las Vegas, but was expected to be extradited to Indianapolis sometime soon, IMPD says.
IMPD adds Bowen’s arrest is the seventh dealing resulting in death arrest the IMPD Overdose Death Task Force has made this year.
