Results in for three special elections held in Johnson County

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The unofficial results are in for three special mail ballot elections that took place Tuesday, April 1 in two cities and one school district in Johnson County.
According to the Johnson County Election Office website as of Wednesday morning, the results are as follows:
Jackson County taxpayers should see no more than 15% assessment increase: judge
In Lenexa, voters opted to renew a three-eighths general purpose sales tax for another 20 years with 8,691 voting in favor of the tax and 2,257 voting against it. The tax will continue to fund improvements to city parks, street maintenance and the city’s trails.
Within the Gardner Edgerton School District, voters approved a $100 million bond measure to renovate existing school buildings and construct new ones, including a new elementary school. Unofficial results showed that 2,236 voted for it and 1,581 voted against the school bond issue.
In Westwood, 441 voters rejected a proposal to sell, trade or exchange Joe D. Dennis Park while 394 voted for it.
Canvassing for the April 1 special elections is set to take place April 9 at the Johnson County Election Office, 2101 E. Kansas City Road, Olathe. ...read more read less
