PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Federal Hill is grieving this week after a local restaurateur was killed in a nightclub collapse in the Dominican Republic on Tuesday.
Fray Rosario was a popular figure on Federal Hill, and had just bought the building housing his restaurants, Terra Luna Café and Terr
a Negra Cantina.
ABC6 spoke with Rick Simone, president of the Federal Hill Commerce Association, who remembered Rosario fondly.
“He was an active member for us on Federal Hill,” Simone said. “A really great entrepreneurial spirit to him.”
Over 220 people were killed when the roof caved in at the Jet Set Nightclub, and mourners gathered at Roger Williams Park on Saturday to honor Rosario and others lost in the disaster.
Simone said the tragedy provides an important lesson for all.
“It’s scary and it goes back to the old cliché about hugging your loved ones and holding them tight,” he said. “These things really are true.”
