A Dust Storm Warning is posted for El Paso, Dona Ana, and Luna Counties until 6:45 PM. Visibility is under 1/4 mile in some areas. Some roads have been closed for safety: Interstate 10 in Texas between mile markers 9 and 54 and Highway 54 in New Mexico between mile markers 1 and 39.

TONIGHT: KTSM has extended its Weather Authority Alert through Wednesday night due to powerful winds, damaging gusts, and blowing dust that will continue on Wednesday. The skies will be a nearly total brown-out from dust. A High Wind Warning is posted until 9 PM. A Blowing Dust Advisory is posted until 9 PM. The west winds will gust near 65+ mph with the strongest gusts on the east slopes. Winds will diminish a little bit in the overnight hours, and the low will drop to 51.
FORECAST: KTSM has issued a Weather Authority Alert for Wednesday due to a cold front that will bring strong winds and blowing dust. Wednesday will also bring strong west-SW winds gusting near 55 mph. Though these winds will not be quite as strong as those Tuesday, it will cause blowing dust by afternoon. Wednesday's high: 69. Thursday will be partly to mostly cloudy and cooler with a high of 65. Winds will be lighter and not strong enough to produce blowing dust. Friday will be partly to mostly cloudy with scattered light rain showers. We'll have a slight chance of isolated (non-severe) t-storms. Friday's high: 62. Saturday will be cloudy and chilly with a high of 54. Expect widely scattered rain showers, and winds will be strongest on the western slopes with cooler winds coming in from the east. Sunday will be a beautiful day with a high of 62. Skies will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy, and the winds will be light and variable.
