Apr 01, 2025
TOPEKA (KSNT) - A company based out of New York is recalling one of its juice products sold in Kansas this week as it may be contaminated with a potentially fatal form of food poisoning.
Walker's Wine Juice LLC, based out of Forestville, New York, is recalling its pumpkin juice as it may contain
botulism. The product was distributed to a limited number of commercial wineries in twelve states including Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
Botulism can cause people to experience, weakness, dizziness, double-vision and trouble speaking or swallowing, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). People who come into contact with botulism may also find it hard to breathe, have abdominal distension and constipation. Botulism can cause potentially deadly bouts of food poisoning.

The FDA reports no illnesses have been reported yet in connection to the recalled pumpkin juice. Inspectors with the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food discovered the pumpkin juice pH was too high, resulting in no adequate step was taken to reduce the threat of microbiological hazards. Walker's Wine is recalling the following products under the recall:
2.5 gallon bag in box and five gallon hot pack that are labeled "pumpkin" with all lots impacted by the recall.
30, 60 and 275-gallon bulk containers that are tagged "pumpkin" with all lots impacted by the recall.
People who purchased any of the recalled juice are urged to reach out to Walker's Wine to find out what to do with the remaining product and receive a reimbursement. You can get in touch with Walker's Wine by heading to its website.
